Despite its predicted molecular weight, Bcl-B often migrates at higher molecular weights, presumably due to post-translational modifications.
A suggested positive control is Jurkat cell lysate.
PA5-20234 can be used with blocking peptide PEP-0353.
Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the BCL-2 protein family.
BCL-2 family members form hetero- or homodimers and act as anti- or pro-apoptotic regulators involved in a wide variety of cellular activities.
This protein contains conserved BH4, BH1, and BH2 domains and can interact with other BCL-2 family members including BCL2, BCL2L1/BCL-X(L), and BAX.
Overexpression of this gene suppresses apoptosis, possibly by preventing cytochrome C release from mitochondria and thereby inhibiting caspase-3 activation.
The mouse counterpart interacts with Apaf1 and forms a complex with Caspase 9, suggesting involvement in the APAF1 and CASPASE 9 apoptotic pathway.
