Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope on FOLR2, a 30–40 kDa cell surface protein serving as a receptor for folic acid.
Target Information
FOLR2 is a member of the folate receptor (FOLR) family located on chromosome 11. Members of this family have high affinity for folic acid and reduced folate derivatives, mediating delivery of 5-methyltetrahydrofolate into cells. FOLR2 shares 68% and 79% sequence homology with FOLR1 and FOLR3, respectively. Originally thought to be placenta-specific, FOLR2 is also expressed in other tissues and may contribute to methotrexate transport in synovial macrophages of rheumatoid arthritis patients.
