hnRNP DL은 광범위하게 발현되는 heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs) 하위군에 속합니다. hnRNPs는 RNA 결합 단백질로, heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA)와 복합체를 형성하며 pre-mRNA 처리 및 mRNA 대사, 수송에 영향을 줍니다. 일부 hnRNP 단백질은 핵과 세포질 사이를 이동하며, 각각 고유한 핵산 결합 특성을 가집니다.
이 유전자가 암호화하는 단백질은 RNA 결합 RRM 도메인을 두 개 가지고 있으며, 세 가지 대체 스플라이싱 전사체 변이가 보고되었습니다. 그중 하나는 nonsense-mediated mRNA decay로 인해 번역되지 않을 가능성이 있습니다. hnRNP DL 단백질 아이소폼은 HNRPD와 유사합니다.
