Product Specific Information
The immunogen is 100% (16/16) homologous to SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Spike protein. Cross-reactivity has not been empirically tested.
This is the mouse recombinant monoclonal version of clone 17F706 produced from mouse ascites.
Target Information
SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) is caused by a human coronavirus. Human coronaviruses are major causes of upper respiratory tract illnesses such as the common cold. These viruses are positive-stranded RNA viruses with large genomes (27–31 kb).
The viral spike protein, a 139-kDa glycoprotein, mediates binding to host cell receptors and serves as the main surface antigen of the coronavirus. Both spike and nucleocapsid proteins can be detected in infected cell culture supernatants using antisera from SARS patients.
