Product Specific Information

This antibody recognizes the extracellular part of CD30 (Ki-1 antigen), a 105 kDa single-chain glycoprotein expressed on Hodgkin’s and Reed-Sternberg cells. It is also found in Burkitt’s lymphomas, virus-infected T and B lymphocytes, and on normal B and T lymphocytes after activation, including T lymphocytes that produce Th2-type cytokines and CD4+/CD8+ T lymphocytes co-expressing CD45RO and IL4 receptor.

Target Information

CD30 (Ki-1, TNF Receptor Superfamily Member 8) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the TNF receptor superfamily. Initially identified on Hodgkin’s and Reed-Sternberg cells, its ligand CD30L (CD153) mediates effects such as proliferation, activation, differentiation, and apoptosis. CD30 plays a key role in Hodgkin’s disease and other CD30+ lymphomas, acting as a costimulatory molecule in thymic negative selection. It is expressed in certain non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas, virus-infected T/B cells, and activated normal lymphocytes. Soluble CD30 (sCD30) reflects Th2 immune response. TRAF2 and TRAF5 interact with CD30 to activate NF-κB signaling. CD30 positively regulates apoptosis and limits autoreactive CD8 effector T cell proliferation, contributing to immune regulation. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms are known. CD30 is expressed in Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Reed-Sternberg cells, most ALCLs, and embryonal carcinomas.
