Product Specific Information

This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope of CD27 (T14), a 50–55 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein (member of the TNF-receptor superfamily) expressed on medullary thymocytes, peripheral T lymphocytes, some B lymphocytes, and NK cells.

Target Information

CD27 is a 50 kDa member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) receptor superfamily that includes CD40 and CD30. Members of this family regulate cell proliferation and death.
Expression of CD27 and its ligand CD70 is mainly confined to lymphocytes. CD27 is expressed as a disulfide-linked homodimer on mature thymocytes, peripheral blood T cells, and a subset of B cells.
Activation of T cells via the TCR-CD3 complex increases CD27 expression and leads to release of soluble CD27 (sCD27), a 28–32 kDa form detectable in plasma, urine, or spinal fluid.
Soluble CD27 serves as a prognostic marker in acute and chronic B cell malignancies.
The CD27-binding protein SIVA, a proapoptotic factor, binds to this receptor and is implicated in CD27-mediated apoptosis.
Diseases associated with CD27 dysfunction include Lymphoproliferative Syndrome 2 and Autosomal Recessive Lymphoproliferative Syndrome.
