Product Specific Information

This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope on gamma-epsilon and delta-epsilon dimers of the human CD3 complex, which is part of the multisubunit T cell receptor complex (CD3/TCR) expressed on peripheral blood T lymphocytes and mature thymocytes.

Target Information

The CD3 subunit complex is crucial for transducing antigen-recognition signals into the cytoplasm of T cells and regulating cell surface expression of the TCR complex. CD3 subunits (gamma, delta, epsilon, zeta) are members of the immunoglobulin superfamily encoded by closely linked genes on human chromosome 11. CD3 plays roles in TCR-induced growth arrest, cell survival, and proliferation. It is expressed on 68–82% of normal peripheral blood lymphocytes, 65–85% of thymocytes, and Purkinje cells in the cerebellum, but not on B or NK cells. Defects in CD3 genes are associated with CD3 immunodeficiency.
