Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes the extracellular part of CD30 (Ki-1 antigen), a 105 kDa single-chain glycoprotein expressed on Hodgkin and Reed-Sternberg cells. It is also found in Burkitt’s lymphomas, virus-infected T and B lymphocytes, and on normal B and T lymphocytes after activation. Expression is particularly noted in T lymphocytes producing Th2-type cytokines and CD4⁺/CD8⁺ T lymphocytes co-expressing CD45RO and the IL4 receptor.
Target Information
CD30 (Ki-1, TNF Receptor Superfamily Member 8) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the TNF receptor superfamily. Initially identified on Hodgkin’s and Reed-Sternberg cells, CD30 binds to its ligand CD30L (CD153), mediating cell proliferation, activation, differentiation, and apoptosis. It plays a critical role in the pathophysiology of Hodgkin’s disease and other CD30⁺ lymphomas, and functions as a costimulatory molecule in thymic negative selection. CD30 expression is also found in certain non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas, virus-infected lymphocytes, and activated normal T and B cells. Soluble CD30 (sCD30) serves as a marker of Th2 immune responses. CD30 interacts with TRAF2 and TRAF5 to activate NF-κB signaling and positively regulate apoptosis, limiting autoreactive CD8 effector T cell proliferation. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.
