This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD324 / E-cadherin, an approximately 100 kDa epithelial cell adhesion molecule, whose detection is important for determination of invasive potential of epithelial neoplasms.
Target Information
E-Cadherin (epithelial cadherin) is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein belonging to the cadherin superfamily. The protein contains five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail. Mutations in the CDH1 gene (chromosome 16) are associated with various cancers such as gastric, breast, colorectal, thyroid, and ovarian cancer. Loss of E-cadherin function contributes to tumor progression by enhancing proliferation, invasion, and metastasis. E-cadherin also mediates bacterial adhesion and is essential for maintaining epithelial integrity and tissue architecture.
