This antibody recognizes the class III CD34 epitope resistant to neuraminidase, chymopapain, and glycoprotease.
Target Information
CD34 is a highly glycosylated monomeric surface protein (111–115 kDa) expressed on many stem cell populations. It serves as a stem cell marker with reversible expression on human hematopoietic stem cells. CD34 may function as a surface receptor involved in receptor-mediated endocytosis, adhesion, differentiation, and proliferation of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells. It may mediate attachment to the bone marrow extracellular matrix or stromal cells and act as a scaffold for lineage-specific glycans, facilitating interactions with lectins and selectins. The intracellular domain is phosphorylated by protein kinase C, suggesting a role in signal transduction. CD34 dysfunction is associated with dermatofibrosarcoma and neurofibroma.
