Product Specific Information
This antibody reacts with an extracellular class II epitope on CD34, a 110–115 kDa monomeric transmembrane phosphoglycoprotein expressed on hematopoietic progenitor cells and pluripotent stem cells. Expression is gradually lost on progenitor cells. It is also used as an endothelial marker.
- No cross-reactivity with rat, bovine, canine, or sheep.
- Functional Application: Induction.
Target Information
CD34 is a highly glycosylated monomeric surface protein (111–115 kDa) expressed on various stem cell populations. It functions as a stem cell marker and may regulate adhesion, differentiation, and proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells. CD34 likely mediates attachment of stem cells to the bone marrow matrix or stromal cells and may act as a scaffold for glycans binding to lectins. The intracellular domain is phosphorylated by activated protein kinase C, suggesting a role in signal transduction.
