Description:
The LS17-9 monoclonal antibody recognizes mouse CD141 (Thrombomodulin, BDCA-3), a type I cell surface glycoprotein that binds and activates thrombin. The thrombin-CD141 complex cleaves protein C and TAFI, initiating anticoagulant and antifibrinolytic pathways.
CD141 is highly expressed on vascular endothelial cells, monocytes, and macrophages. Soluble CD141 is present at low levels in serum and can increase during inflammation. Its anti-inflammatory activity results from blocking thrombin-mediated pro-inflammatory effects, including granulocyte chemotaxis and activation of eosinophils and mast cells.
Although human CD141 is a dendritic cell marker, mouse CD141 shows different expression patterns.

Reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometry using mouse resident peritoneal exudate cells. Recommended ≤ 0.25 µg/test (in 100 µL final volume). Cell number range: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test. Optimize titration for best performance.

Target Information

Thrombomodulin (TM):
Also known as Fetomodulin (FM), endothelial anticoagulant protein, or glycoprotein P112. TM contains six EGF-like domains and a lectin-like N-terminal domain. It accelerates activation of protein C, contributing to thrombo-resistance and preventing clot formation on endothelial surfaces.
Immunohistochemical staining of TM is used in studies of vascular tumors, meningiomas, and choriocarcinomas.
