Target Information

Zygotic genome activation (ZGA) marks the transition from maternal to embryonic genetic control, primarily occurring in the late 2-cell stage.
ZSCAN4 encodes a SCAN domain and four zinc finger domains, expressed in late 2-cell embryos and embryonic stem cells.
Loss-of-function studies using siRNA show delays in progression from the 2-cell to 4-cell stage, affecting embryo development.
ZSCAN4 plays a crucial role in preimplantation development, telomere maintenance, and genomic stability in ES cells, suggesting its importance in maintaining pluripotency in replicating stem cells.
