• Percent identity with other species by BLAST analysis:
  Human (100%); Gorilla, Gibbon, Monkey, Marmoset, Mouse, Rat, Dog, Bat, Bovine, Hamster, Elephant, Rabbit, Opossum (94%); Panda, Horse, Pig, Turkey, Chicken (88%); Platypus (82%).
• For IHC(P), use heat-induced antigen retrieval in pH 6.0 citrate buffer.
  After incubation with the primary antibody, slides were incubated with biotinylated secondary antibody, followed by alkaline phosphatase-streptavidin and chromogen.

Target Information

Steroidogenic factor-1 (SF-1) is an orphan nuclear receptor involved in organ development and differentiation of the endocrine system. SF-1 is essential for fetal development of the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, gonads, and adrenal gland. It promotes transcriptional activity of many steroidogenic enzymes from the cytochrome P450 family.

SF-1 contains two activation function domains (AF1 and AF2), common to many nuclear steroid receptors, which are necessary for interaction with other nuclear receptors and coactivators/corepressors such as:

• Steroid receptor coactivator-1 (SRC-1)
• Glucocorticoid receptor interacting protein 1 (GRIP1)
• cAMP response element binding protein (CREB) binding protein (CBP)
• Silencing mediator of retinoid acid and thyroid hormone receptor (SMRT)
