Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits are cloned, and individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

Target Information

LAMP1 (CD107a, lysosome-associated membrane protein-1) is a major constituent of the lysosomal membrane, with 1–2% also found on the plasma membrane.
It is a heavily glycosylated type I membrane protein containing:

• A signal peptide
• 18 N-linked glycosylation sites
• A single transmembrane domain
• A short cytosolic tail

LAMP1 and LAMP2 are involved in lysosome biogenesis and fusion with phagosomes. Upon cell activation, LAMP1 translocates to the plasma membrane via a tyrosine-based motif (YXXI).
Mutations in this motif disrupt lysosomal localization, causing cycling between the plasma membrane and endosome.

Cell surface LAMP1 and LAMP2 promote adhesion of PBMCs to vascular endothelium, suggesting a role in inflammation. Increased LAMP1 expression is observed in neurons and glial cells near senile plaques in Alzheimer’s disease, and in medullary epithelial cells and macrophages during acute thymic involution.
LAMP1 is a useful marker for mast cell activation.
