Target Information

P-cadherin (Cadherin-3) is a Type I cadherin protein belonging to the cadherin superfamily. It is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein involved in development, wound healing, and cell signaling.
P-cadherin is expressed in fetal tissues and adult structures such as the basal layer of the epidermis, breast, prostate, ovary, cervix, hair follicle, and corneal endothelium. It is also found in embryonic stem cells and mammary gland stem cells.
Overexpression is linked to poor prognosis in various carcinomas including breast, prostate, ovary, colon, and stomach cancers. Mutations in CDH3 are associated with congenital hypotrichosis with juvenile macular dystrophy.
