Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene shows strong similarity to Saccharomyces cerevisiae Cdc45, an essential protein required for the initiation of DNA replication. Cdc45 is part of a conserved multiprotein complex including Cdc6/Cdc18, MCM proteins, and DNA polymerase, which are crucial for early DNA replication steps in eukaryotes. This protein interacts with MCM7 and DNA polymerase alpha, and studies in Xenopus suggest its role in loading DNA polymerase alpha onto chromatin. Multiple polyadenylation sites have been reported for this gene.
