Target Information
The HAX1 protein associates with hematopoietic cell-specific Lyn substrate 1, a substrate of Src family tyrosine kinases. It also interacts with the polycystic kidney disease 2 gene product and the F-actin-binding protein cortactin. Although previously thought to be mitochondrial, recent studies show localization in the cell body. Mutations cause autosomal recessive severe congenital neutropenia (Kostmann disease). Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms exist.
