Target Information
The 90 kDa heat shock protein (Hsp90) family of molecular chaperones is a highly conserved group of proteins that play essential physiological roles. Hsp90 is involved in numerous cellular processes, particularly signal transduction. TRAP1, a homolog of Hsp90, is associated with various proteins and has been shown via immunofluorescence to localize within the mitochondria of mammalian cells, indicating its role as a mitochondrial matrix protein.
