Target Information
CHEK1 (CHK1) is a serine/threonine protein kinase involved in maintaining DNA integrity by halting replication under genotoxic stress. It acts as a key mediator in the DNA damage checkpoint network. Inhibition of CHK1 can induce mitotic catastrophe and apoptosis in p53-deficient cancer cells, while normal cells remain arrested in G1. Thus, CHK1 serves as an attractive therapeutic target for cancer treatment, particularly in p53-deficient tumors.
