Target Information
CHEK1 (CHK1) is a serine/threonine protein kinase involved in maintaining DNA integrity by preventing replication under conditions of DNA damage. It acts as a key mediator in the DNA damage-induced checkpoint network, ensuring genomic stability under genotoxic stress.
Inhibition of CHK1 can lead to mitotic catastrophe and apoptosis in p53-deficient cancer cells, while normal cells remain arrested in the G1 phase. Therefore, CHK1 is considered an attractive therapeutic target for cancer treatment, particularly in p53-deficient tumors.
