This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope of CD5, a 67 kDa single-chain transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on mature T-lymphocytes, most thymocytes, and a subset of B-lymphocytes (B-1a lymphocytes).
It can be used as a capture antibody in a Sandwich ELISA with detection antibody MA1-19438.
For Western Blot, use under non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

CD5 is a 67 kDa human T-lymphocyte single-chain transmembrane glycoprotein. It is present on all mature T-lymphocytes, most thymocytes, and many T-cell leukemias and lymphomas. CD5 also reacts with a subpopulation of activated B-cells and may act as a receptor regulating T-cell proliferation.
CD5 is found on approximately 95% of thymocytes and 72% of peripheral blood lymphocytes. In lymph nodes, reactivity is mainly observed in T-cell areas. CD5 expression is associated with T-cell leukemias, lymphomas, and activated T cells.
Diseases associated with CD5 dysfunction include thymus cancer and Richter’s Syndrome.
