Target Information
UVRAG is predicted to contain a coiled-coil structure and is likely to be metabolically unstable due to a strong PEST domain. It interacts with Beclin 1, activating autophagy and inhibiting tumorigenicity in human colon cancer cells.
The UVRAG gene is located on chromosome 11q13.5 and complements ultraviolet sensitivity in xeroderma pigmentosum group C cells.
It is highly conserved across species, implying an essential role in cell metabolism. Chromosomal aberrations involving UVRAG are linked to left-right axis malformation, and mutations are associated with colon cancer.
The protein is highly expressed in human brain, lung, kidney, and liver.
