Target Information
UVRAG is predicted to contain a coiled-coil structure and is likely to be metabolically unstable based on the occurrence of a strong PEST domain.
It interacts with Beclin 1, leading to activation of autophagy and inhibition of tumorigenicity in human colon cancer cells.
The UVRAG gene is localized on human chromosome 11q13.5 and complements the ultraviolet sensitivity of xeroderma pigmentosum group C cells.
This gene has been well conserved during evolution, implying an important role in cell metabolism.
Chromosomal aberrations involving UVRAG are associated with left-right axis malformation, and mutations have been linked to colon cancer.
The protein is highly expressed in human brain, lung, kidney, and liver.
