Target Information
DNA-PK is a heterotrimeric, DNA-dependent protein kinase that initiates signaling cascades in response to DNA damage. It is closely related to PI3 kinases and can be inhibited by PI3 kinase-targeting molecules. DNA-PK encodes a component of the mediator complex, a transcriptional coactivator required for expression of most genes. The mediator complex interacts with RNA polymerase II to promote transcription initiation. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
