Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes a 130 kDa protein from mouse and rat brain tissue extract in western blot.
Store product as a concentrated solution. Centrifuge briefly prior to opening the vial.
Target Information
Neuropilin 1 is a 923-amino-acid membrane-bound coreceptor to a tyrosine kinase receptor belonging to the neuropilin family. It contains two CUB domains, two F5/8 type C domains, and a MAM domain. Neuropilin 1 forms a heterodimer with Neuropilin 2 (NRP2) and binds to plexin (PLXNB1) to form semaphorin receptors.
Expressed primarily in the nervous system, Neuropilin 1 is implicated in:
- Cardiovascular development and angiogenesis
- Axon guidance and neuronal circuit formation
- Cell survival and migration
- Organogenesis outside the nervous system
It functions as a receptor for semaphorins and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and regulates VEGF-induced angiogenesis. Neuropilin 1 may be involved in advanced prostate carcinoma and breast cancer progression.
