This antibody detects endogenous levels of PFKFB2 only when phosphorylated at Ser32.
Target Information
Protein kinases are enzymes that transfer a phosphate group from a phosphate donor, generally the γ phosphate of ATP, onto an acceptor amino acid in a substrate protein. By this mechanism, protein kinases mediate most signal transduction in eukaryotic cells, regulating metabolism, transcription, cell cycle progression, cytoskeletal rearrangement, cell movement, apoptosis, and differentiation.
With more than 500 gene products, the protein kinase family is one of the largest in eukaryotes. They are classified into 8 major groups based on sequence comparison of tyrosine (PTK) or serine/threonine (STK) kinase catalytic domains. The AGC kinase group includes 63 kinases such as:
- Cyclic nucleotide-regulated protein kinases (PKA & PKG)
- Diacylglycerol-activated/phospholipid-dependent protein kinases (PKC)
- RAC/Akt protein kinases
- G protein-coupled receptor kinases (ARK)
- Ribosomal protein S6 kinases (RSK)
