Target Information
NTRK2 (TrkB) is a receptor for brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), a key molecule in the development and maintenance of the mammalian nervous system.
TrkB signaling regulates synaptic functions and long-term potentiation of brain synapses.
It is a membrane-bound receptor that phosphorylates itself and MAPK pathway components upon neurotrophin binding, leading to cell differentiation.
Mutations in TrkB are associated with obesity and mood disorders.
Alternate splice variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
