Product Specific Information

The MFL3 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse Fas (CD95) Ligand, a 40 kDa type II transmembrane glycoprotein. FasL is a member of the TNF family expressed by activated T cells. Interaction of FasL with receptor CD95 induces Fas-mediated apoptosis. Human FasL can be cleaved by MMPs to produce a 26 kDa soluble form, though mouse sensitivity to MMPs is not reported.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Tested on mouse FasL transfected and activated T cells. Recommended ≤1 µg/test (in 100 µL volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test). Optimize concentration for best performance.

Target Information

CD178 (Fas ligand, FasL) is a type-II membrane protein with its N-terminus in the cytoplasm and C-terminus extracellular. Its receptor, FasR, belongs to the TNF/NGF receptor family. CD178 induces apoptosis upon binding to FasR and exists as membrane-bound (45 kDa) or soluble (26 kDa) forms, the latter released by metalloproteinase cleavage. CD178 is predominantly expressed in activated T cells and NK cells, and found in immune-privileged tissues such as testis and eye. It also appears in thymus, liver, ovary, lung, heart, and kidney. The Fas/CD178 system plays a role in immune regulation, cytotoxicity, and diseases including AIDS, hepatitis, cancer, and inflammatory disorders.
