Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD274 / PD-L1 (also known as B7-H1), a 40 kDa type I transmembrane protein expressed by dendritic cells, activated T cells, activated monocytes, and in various tissues such as heart, skeletal muscle, placenta, and lung. It is also expressed in many cancer cells, including T cell lymphomas, melanomas, and glioblastomas.

Target Information
Programmed death receptor ligand 1 (PD-L1, also called B7-H1) is a B7 family member that binds to programmed death receptor 1 (PD-1), negatively regulating T-cell receptor (TCR) signaling. Upon receptor ligation, PD-L1 reduces TCR-mediated proliferation and cytokine production. PD-L1 is highly expressed in many murine and human cancers and can be up-regulated by IFN-gamma stimulation, suggesting a role in tumor immune evasion.
