Product Specific Information

Reconstitute using 1.0 mL distilled water.

Rat anti-Human EGF Receptor antibody, clone ICR10, recognizes the human epidermal growth factor receptor (EGF-R), which is overexpressed in a high proportion of breast cancer cells and in a range of other carcinomas.

Target Information

EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor) is a receptor tyrosine kinase that signals in response to various growth factors. Overexpression has been linked to numerous types of cancer, and EGFR is the target of both biological and small molecular therapeutics.

EGFR is encoded by the EGFR gene located on chromosome 7 in humans. It belongs to the HER/ERbB family of proteins, including ERbB2, ERbB3, and ERbB4. EGFR is a transmembrane receptor; binding of ligands such as EGF and TGF-α to the extracellular domain leads to receptor dimerization and autophosphorylation of tyrosine residues in the cytoplasmic domain.

Overexpression is observed in tumors of the head and neck, brain, bladder, stomach, breast, lung, endometrium, cervix, vulva, ovary, esophagus, and in squamous cell carcinoma.
