Product Specific Information

Mouse anti-Human calcitonin receptor antibody, clone 31/01-1H10-4-1-14, recognizes the human calcitonin receptor — a membrane protein with seven transmembrane domains coupled to G protein messenger systems.


Target Information

The Calcitonin Receptor inhibits bone resorption and is expressed during development, playing roles in morphogenesis.
Three alternatively spliced receptor isoforms have been identified.
In addition to binding calcitonin, the receptor can complex with RAMP3 (receptor activity modifying protein) to bind amylin, which regulates pancreatic islet function and is involved in Type II diabetes.
Expression has been reported in artery, blood, bone, brain, kidney, lung, placenta, prostate, skeletal muscle, and thyroid. ESTs have been isolated from bone, embryo, kidney, and melanocyte/uterus/fetal heart libraries.
