Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
Autophagy is a process of bulk degradation of cellular proteins through an autophagosomic-lysosomal pathway, essential for normal growth control and cellular nutrient preservation under starvation. This process is negatively regulated by TOR (Target of Rapamycin) through phosphorylation of autophagy protein APG1.
ATG2B, one of two homologs of ATG2, is essential for autophagosome formation and regulates the size and distribution of lipid droplets. High rates of ATG2B mutations have been observed in gastric and colorectal carcinomas, suggesting that deregulation of autophagy may contribute to cancer development.
