Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
GABRA5 is part of the GABA system, the major inhibitory neurotransmitter pathway in the mammalian brain. It acts at GABA-A receptors, which are ligand-gated chloride channels. Chloride conductance through these channels can be modulated by agents such as benzodiazepines that bind to the GABA-A receptor. At least 16 distinct subunits of GABA-A receptors have been identified. Transcript variants utilizing three different alternative non-coding first exons have been described.
