Product Specific Information

The BC96 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD25, the 55 kDa interleukin-2 receptor alpha chain (IL-2Rα).
CD25 is expressed by early progenitors of T and B lineage as well as by activated mature T and B lymphocytes.
By itself, CD25 binds IL-2 only with low affinity, but forms a high-affinity IL-2 receptor when associated with CD122 (IL-2Rβ) and CD132 (common γ chain).
This receptor complex plays a critical role in lymphocyte differentiation, activation, and proliferation.

Target Information

CD25 (IL2RA) encodes the interleukin-2 receptor alpha chain, part of the heterotrimeric IL-2 receptor complex (IL2RA, IL2RB, IL2RG).
This cytokine receptor regulates proliferation and differentiation of T and B lymphocytes.
Low-affinity receptors are formed by IL2RA homodimers, while high-affinity receptors require all three subunits.
IL2 is primarily produced by mature T cells and functions as a growth and differentiation factor, influencing B cell proliferation and NK cell activity.
Mutations in IL2RA are associated with interleukin-2 receptor alpha deficiency and immune dysregulation.
