Product Specific Information
Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
CD31 PECAM1 antibody is directed against rat CD31 protein. A BLAST analysis was used to suggest cross-reactivity with CD31 from rat, human, and mouse based on a 100% homology with the immunizing sequence. Reactivity against homologues from other sources is not known.
Target Information
CD31 (platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1, PECAM-1) is an inhibitory coreceptor involved in regulation of T cell and B cell signaling through dual immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs (ITIM). These motifs, upon phosphorylation, provide docking sites for protein-tyrosine phosphatases. CD31 is expressed ubiquitously within the vascular compartment, mainly at junctions between adjacent cells. The N-terminal Ig-like domain mediates homophilic binding, crucial for cell-cell interactions.
