RTEL1은 ATP 의존성 DNA 헬리케이스로, 텔로미어 길이 조절, DNA 복구 및 유전체 안정성 유지에 관여합니다. 유해한 재조합을 억제하고 감수분열 중 교차를 제한하는 항재조합 효소로 작용합니다. 또한 T-loop 구조를 분해하여 텔로미어 취약성을 방지하고, G4-DNA 구조를 억제하여 텔로미어의 역동성과 안정성을 유지합니다.
