Target Information

This gene encodes a protein with a series of six RCC1-like domains (RLDs), characteristic of highly conserved guanine nucleotide exchange factors.
The encoded protein is localized in the Golgi body and interacts with RPGRIP1. It is essential for the viability of rod photoreceptors and localizes to their outer segment.
Mutations in this gene are associated with X-linked retinitis pigmentosa (XLRP).
Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been reported, though only some full-length forms are characterized.
