Product Specific Information

This antibody recognizes an extracellular common epitope on the beta-chain of human HLA-DR and HLA-DP.
DR and DP are isotypes of human MHC Class II molecules expressed on antigen-presenting cells (APCs) such as dendritic cells, B lymphocytes, monocytes, and macrophages.
Western Blot: use under non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

HLA-DRA is one of the HLA class II alpha chain paralogues. This class II molecule is a heterodimer of an alpha and a beta chain, both membrane-anchored. It plays a central role in the immune system by presenting peptides derived from extracellular proteins.

Class II molecules are expressed in antigen-presenting cells (APCs: B lymphocytes, dendritic cells, macrophages).
The alpha chain is approximately 33–35 kDa, and its gene contains 5 exons:

• Exon 1: leader peptide
• Exons 2–3: extracellular domains
• Exon 4: transmembrane domain and cytoplasmic tail

DRA does not have polymorphisms in the peptide-binding region and acts as the sole alpha chain for DRB1, DRB3, DRB4, and DRB5.
HLA and MHC antibodies play an important role in immunopeptidomics, enabling the identification and characterization of neoantigens via HPLC coupled to tandem mass spectrometry.
