SLC29A2 (ENT2) is a member of the equilibrative nucleoside transporter family, playing a key role in nucleoside and nucleobase uptake for salvage pathways in nucleotide synthesis. This transmembrane glycoprotein mediates cellular uptake of nucleosides and contributes to the effectiveness of nucleoside-based anticancer drugs. Genetic variations in SLC29A2 may influence drug efficacy.
