• In direct ELISAs and Western blots (non-reducing conditions), approximately 50% cross-reactivity with recombinant human Complement Component C5a is observed.
• Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
• Endotoxin level is <0.10 EU per 1 µg of the antibody by the LAL method.

Target Information

The protein encoded by this gene is the fifth component of complement, which plays an important role in inflammatory and cell killing processes. It consists of alpha and beta polypeptide chains linked by a disulfide bridge. The activation peptide C5a, an anaphylatoxin with potent spasmogenic and chemotactic activity, is derived from the alpha chain via cleavage with a convertase. The C5b cleavage product forms a complex with C6, forming the basis of the membrane attack complex with other complement components. Mutations in this gene cause complement component 5 deficiency, associated with severe recurrent infections, and have also been linked to susceptibility to liver fibrosis and rheumatoid arthritis.
