Product Specific Information
This antibody is predicted to react with bovine, amphibian, and mouse based on sequence homology.
Heat-mediated antigen retrieval is recommended prior to staining, using a 10 mM citrate buffer (pH 6.0) for 10 minutes, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
After antigen retrieval, incubate samples with the primary antibody for 10 minutes at room temperature.
A suggested positive control is liver carcinoma.
Target Information
Proteins carrying a nuclear localization signal (NLS) are transported into the nucleus by the importin-alpha/beta heterodimer. Importin-alpha binds the NLS, while importin-beta mediates translocation through the nuclear pore complex.
After translocation, RanGTP binds importin-beta and displaces importin-alpha. Importin-alpha must then return to the cytoplasm, leaving the NLS protein behind.
The protein encoded by this gene binds strongly to NLS-free importin-alpha, and this binding is released in the cytoplasm by the combined action of RANBP1 and RANGAP1.
In addition, the encoded protein may play roles in apoptosis and cell proliferation.
