This antibody detects endogenous levels of total HLA-DRA.

Target Information

HLA-DRA is a member of the HLA class II alpha chain family. It forms a heterodimer with a beta chain, both anchored in the membrane, and plays a key role in the immune system by presenting peptides derived from extracellular proteins. These class II molecules are expressed in antigen-presenting cells (APCs) such as B lymphocytes, dendritic cells, and macrophages.

The alpha chain is approximately 33–35 kDa and encoded by five exons:

• Exon 1: leader peptide
• Exons 2–3: extracellular domains
• Exon 4: transmembrane domain and cytoplasmic tail

DRA lacks polymorphisms in the peptide-binding region and serves as the sole alpha chain for DRB1, DRB3, DRB4, and DRB5.
HLA and MHC antibodies are essential tools in immunopeptidomics, aiding in the identification and characterization of neoantigens through high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS).
