Target Information

Isotype control antibodies serve as negative controls to distinguish specific antibody binding from background signal.
They are useful for identifying non-specific interactions such as:

• Fc receptor binding
• Cellular protein, carbohydrate, or lipid interactions
• Cell autofluorescence

Isotype controls are most commonly used in:

• Flow cytometry
• Chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP)
• Immunohistochemistry
• Gel shift assays

To ensure accurate comparison, the isotype control should match the primary antibody’s species and isotype, and if labeled, use the same fluorochrome.
