This antibody detects endogenous levels of CFTR only when phosphorylated at Thr1471.
Target Information
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a common lethal genetic disease caused by mutations of the gene coding for the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR), a cAMP-regulated chloride channel. Approximately 70% of all CF cases involve deletion of phenylalanine at position 508 (ΔF508), leading to abnormal chloride transport. The persistence of this mutation may relate to resistance against Salmonella typhi infection, as ΔF508 heterozygote and homozygote mice showed 86% and 100% reductions, respectively, in S. typhi intestinal submucosal uptake.
