Background
C-X-C motif chemokine receptor 3 (CXCR3) is a G protein-coupled receptor selective for chemokines CXCL9/Mig, CXCL10/IP10, and CXCL11/I-TAC. Chemokine binding induces cellular responses involved in leukocyte trafficking, including integrin activation, cytoskeletal changes, and chemotactic migration. Alternative splicing produces different isoforms, including CXCR3-B, which binds strongly to CXCL4/PF4 (PMID:12782716).
