Target Information
CGREF1 (cell growth regulator with EF-hand domain 1), also known as CGR11, is a 301 amino acid secreted protein containing two conserved calcium-binding EF-hand domains essential for cell-cell adhesion.
Induced by p53, CGREF1 inhibits cell growth in various cell lines.
CGREF1 is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 2, which contains over 1,400 genes and represents nearly 8% of the human genome.
Mutations in genes on chromosome 2 are associated with several disorders, including Harlequin ichthyosis (ABCA12), sitosterolemia (ABCG5/ABCG8), and Alstrom syndrome (ALMS1).
