CLC-KA는 신장에서 특이적으로 발현되는 염화 이온 채널로, Henle 고리의 얇은 상행각 내수질에서 염화 이온의 상피 간 이동을 매개합니다. 이 단백질은 소변 농축 과정에 중요한 역할을 하며, 인간 CLC-KA 유전자는 염색체 1p36에 위치합니다.
CLC-KB는 두꺼운 상행각과 원위 세뇨관에서 염화 이온의 기저측 유출을 매개하며, CLC-KB 유전자 변이는 제3형 Bartter 증후군과 관련되어 있습니다.
