Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous CD1e protein at a molecular weight of approximately 44 kDa.
Purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
CD1E encodes a member of the CD1 family of transmembrane glycoproteins, structurally related to MHC proteins, and forms heterodimers with beta-2-microglobulin. CD1 proteins mediate the presentation of lipid and glycolipid antigens to T cells.
The human genome contains five CD1 family genes organized on chromosome 1.
CD1E localizes to Golgi compartments, endosomes, and lysosomes, and is cleaved into a stable soluble form, which is required for intracellular processing of certain glycolipids for presentation by other CD1 family members.
