Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family, which regulates cellular processes such as growth, differentiation, mitosis, and oncogenic transformation.
Two alternatively spliced transcript variants have been reported:
- One encodes a receptor-type PTP with a short extracellular domain, a single transmembrane region, and two tandem intracytoplasmic catalytic domains.
- The other encodes a nonreceptor-type isoform with a distinct hydrophilic N-terminus.
Studies in mice suggest regulatory roles of this PTP in RAS-related signal transduction pathways, cytokine-induced SATA signaling, and activation of voltage-gated K⁺ channels.
